Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pocket Lobbyist (“the app,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use it. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
Information you provide
Pocket Lobbyist does not require an account, and there is no login. You don't have to share any personal details to use the app. The information you actively provide is:
- The issue or position you want to discuss.
- An optional organization or client name.
- The member of Congress you choose to prepare for.
- If you create a handout, optional contact details—your name, email, phone, and organization—that are printed on the handout you generate.
The contact details you enter for a handout are used only to format that handout and are stored on your device (you can delete them at any time). They are not sent to our AI provider—only the issue, organization, and the selected member's public profile are (described below).
Information we do not collect
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, device identifiers, or usage analytics. The app contains no advertising and no third-party tracking.
How your information is used
When you generate a briefing, the issue and organization details you enter—together with the public profile of the member of Congress you select (such as name, party, and state)—are sent to our third-party AI provider, Anthropic, to generate your briefing. To produce current and accurate results, this process may include automated web searches performed by the AI provider. Your information is used only to create the briefing you requested. It is not sold, rented, or used for advertising.
Third-party services
- Anthropic (Claude AI): processes the text described above to generate briefings. Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy, available at anthropic.com.
- Congress.gov: the app retrieves publicly available information about members of Congress from the official Congress.gov API. Requests to this service contain only the member or search information needed to load that public data—none of the issue text or organization details you enter.
Data storage and retention
Briefings and handouts you choose to save are stored locally on your device, not on our servers. We do not maintain a copy. You can delete saved items at any time within the app, and removing the app deletes all locally stored data.
Children's privacy
Pocket Lobbyist is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
We use industry-standard encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data sent to third-party services. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Accuracy of briefings
Briefings are generated by AI to help you prepare and are intended as a starting point for your own advocacy. They may contain errors and are not legal, professional, or official advice. Please review and verify the content before relying on it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
